It seems like comedy everywhere is recently under attack. Cancel culture looms over any comic that would dare cross a new line in the name of getting a laugh..
but not the Long Island Drag scene! It is noticeably “busting” at the seams with funny and extremely entertaining drag performers that push the envelope and entertain in ways others wouldn’t dare, giving us all hope that people are still looking towards laughter.
From the raunchy and in your face funny of Ivy Stalls or the masterful mixes of Bella Noche, there is a slice of the comedy pie for everyone. The Long Island drag scene of the past has changed!
Even one of the queens who has held drag down for a while out on the island, Annie Manilddo, has a wide repertoire of comedy gags and numbers… and you should ask her about her balloon animals. Other drag artists, such as the hysterical Syn, mix classic music with an over the top animated performance, bringing a “fresh” new funtastic to shows!
Thanks to Ru know who, drag entertainers worldwide have come a long way, baby. With this new onset of people looking for more and more drag, the drag scene is officially in the mainstream. And the Island of Long has some of the best comic Drag Entertainers this side of the Throgs Neck!
Gone are the days where you’d need to travel very far at all to see fantastically funny shows these days. There are local shows happening all over Long Island, and happening all the time! Just Google your way to a Drag brunch, bingo or comedy show on Long Island or follow the local queens who are bringing drag back to our backyards, sometimes quite literally. So strap in (not on!) and be sure to keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times!
If you haven’t had an opportunity to enjoy a drag show, do it! You can bet your bottoms and there’s your in for an amazing time, as well as a ton of gut-busting laughter.
From PG performances for families to shows rated a bit more R for more adult audiences, all you have to do is pick your level of funny. There’s something for everyone.
WARNING: a sense of humor is a must to attend!
